Not all Cichlids grow large - there are dwarf ones that grow to only 1-2" long, South American and African. They also have the advantage of being mixable in community tanks, as long as you have faster fish in with them. See some examples including Pseudos and Rams at http://www.cadvision.com/fuhrmanr/fish/fish.htm to see what I'm talking about. Some will even breed for you should be fortunate enough to provide them with the right conditions. I agree that they are one of the most interesting classes of fresh water fish. Not too hard to take care of either, but, one of the more expensive fish, for sure.
This is not a bad guide for starters, but "A Rich Person's Guide"? Either I'm getting richer or you're getting poorer, because I certainly don't feel your setup is particulary rich. Unless you happen to be keeping five or so of these tanks - nice for keeping species that don't get along with each other, particulary cichlids.I do feel that you've left out one very important point, probably should be discussed under fish: The number of fish in your tank. You mention the 30 neons/tetras, which would be about right for a 55 gallon tank you think is the minimum 'good' size.
Perhaps 55 gallons for a rich man, but really I believe you can do much with 20 gallon tanks and up. The rule of thumb is: 1" fish length per gallon of water. Less if you insist on an odd shape that has less surface area than the standard rectangular designs. Thus, you can keep one 20" fish (you'd want something bigger for really big fish), or 20 1" fish in a 20 gal. tank. Oh yeah, many people forget that the ...
Prediction: The first company that combines a cel-phone and a palm/organiser properly is going to make a killing, particulary if others are slow on the uptake.Myself and my geek friends are just about all carrying around Palm pilots and cel phones of various sorts. We all would like one unit that does both, preferably at a price lower than both individualy. The Treo's lack of integration of phone numbers is appalling. Have these designers not heard of a normalized database?! *All* phone numbers should go to *one* place, be they call log, quick dial, or general phone book - with a category marker that filters appropriately depending on what you are looking at. Transfering a number from one area to another is a simple toggle of one field in a record.
The interface sound like a nightmare. Common functions should require few keystrokes/pen taps. Sounds like Handspring doesn't have this simple concept down either.
As far as GPS/cel location smarts goes, knowing where y...
